## Summary

Rachio offers several features that make sharing, moving, and transferring your devices easy. You can share access to your Rachio devices and properties without disclosing your account credentials (username and password), move devices between properties within the app, and transfer ownership of properties (and their associated devices) to a new homeowner. This article outlines how to share access to a device or property, explains the different types of shared access available, and provides instructions for moving a device to a different property or transferring a property to another user.

## Share Access to your Property

From the device selection screen of your Rachio app, you can share your property with another user or a business. This will grant them access to all the devices connected with that property, which is very useful for sharing devices with family members, for example.

Just tap **“Share property”** right below the property name.

On the next screen, you’ll see that property’s address and any users or businesses that already have access to that property. Here you can tap on one of the existing shared users or businesses to manage their permissions.

To share the property with a new entity, tap the **Add Shared User** button, or select from the available options: "Share with friends & relatives", or "Share with a business". Choose the appropriate option to share the property with a new user or business.

### Sharing with a friend or relative

When sharing with a friend or relative, you have the option to share the entire property and all devices with them, or select only certain devices to share:

* Tap "Share with friends & relatives"
* Enter the user’s Rachio account email address. You also have the option to add someone directly from your contacts list.
* Select the devices you’d like to share with them (all devices will be shared by default), and click **Share**.

## Sharing Limited Access

Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controllers offer two types of shared access for easier management between you and your family or landscaper: **Complete Access** and **Limited Access.** Both types are outlined below. If you feel Complete Access offers a bit too much control of your Sprinkler Controller, consider sharing Limited Access instead!

#### Note

**Limited Access** is only available for sprinkler controllers (not supported for Smart Hose Timers or Smart Lighting Controllers). **Complete Access** is available for Smart Sprinkler Controllers, Smart Hose Timers, and Smart Lighting Controllers.

**Understanding Complete Access**

Complete Access allows another user full access to your zones, schedules, settings, etc. This is great for sharing your controller with family or property managers and allows the other party to make changes to your settings.

* Allows full access to zones, schedules, settings, etc.

* Changes can be made & saved by either party.

* Access does not expire unless manually removed.

* Great for family, property managers, etc.

**How to use Limited Access**

If you'd like to share your sprinkler controller but would like to limit the functions available to the recipient, Limited Access only allows users to run schedules and perform quick runs on zones. Limited Access works even if the recipient does not have a Rachio account. To share Limited Access, follow the steps below:

1\. In the Rachio app, select the Smart Sprinkler Controller you'd like to share, and tap the "Settings" tab located in the bottom-right corner.

2\. Tap Limited Access.

3\. Tap Add Limited User

4\. Enter their email address and the date you wish the Limited Access to expire.

5\. Tap the blue Add button.

The user will then have limited access to the device until the date you selected for expiry.

## Property and Device Transfers

Rachio enables you to transfer ownership of your property and all associated devices to another Rachio account.

### **Transferring Property (and Device)** **Ownership to Another User**

This is helpful if you sell a home and want to transfer full control of all associated devices to the new homeowner.

1\. **Select the Property**: In the Rachio app, tap the currently displayed Property name and select the Property you'd like to transfer ownership of from the list. This step is not necessary if you only have a single Property.

2\. **Transfer Property**: Tap the 3-dot menu at the top of the screen and select "**Transfer property**".

3\. **Enter Recipient Details**:

Enter the new owner's Rachio account email address. The email address you enter must already be linked to a Rachio account.

* If the property is already shared with someone (like a landscaper) and you'd like to maintain that connection, you can check the box next to "Keep current shared accounts attached to these devices".
* If you're a landscaper or installer who is transferring ownership back to the homeowner after setup, and they'd like you to retain shared access, check the box next to "Get shares access to the existing devices on this property".

4\. **Confirm Transfer**: After making optional selections (like retaining shared access), tap the "**Transfer Ownership**" button.

#### Note:

Transferring ownership of a Property transfers ownership of **all associated devices** (it does not transfer any 3rd party integrations).
